COR certification tracking for BC construction
A COR audit happens every year, and the training and certification records behind it are the part that slips between audits: tickets expire, crews change, new hires start before their orientation is written down. This page has a free readiness checklist for those records and the COR facts that matter, taken from BCCSA.

COR in BC, in short
What is COR in BC construction?
COR (Certificate of Recognition) verifies that an employer has a fully implemented health and safety management system that meets national standards. WorkSafeBC issues it, and the BC Construction Safety Alliance (BCCSA) administers the program as the certifying partner for BC construction.
Is COR mandatory?
No. COR is voluntary, but some general contractors require it as a bid prequalification, so for many contractors it decides which work they can bid on.
What is the difference between Small COR and Large COR?
Per BCCSA, Small COR is for companies with 19 or fewer employees and Large COR is for companies with 20 or more.
How often are COR audits?
One audit per calendar year over a three-year cycle: a certification or recertification audit in year one, then maintenance audits in years two and three.
What score passes a COR audit?
BCCSA states a minimum of 80% overall and at least 50% in each element.
Is there a financial incentive?
Certified employers may receive 10% in annual incentive payments from WorkSafeBC, unless an exception applies, such as convictions or unpaid payroll, per BCCSA.
